{ A XIS MUNDI }
~ A Living Earth Sanctuary ~
Doctrine
; peoples who have preserved wisdom about this relationship while recognizing Axis Mundi as a contemporary spiritual community rooted in universal principles of reverence, reciprocity, and right relationship.
Our Relationship With Life
We believe every human being possesses inherent dignity and is capable of growth, healing, wisdom, and transformation.
Life is a continual process of remembering who we are and how we belong.
We therefore seek to cultivate a way of living founded upon:
• Love
• Respect
• Humility
• Responsibility
• Reciprocity
• Compassion
• Truth
• Service
• Reverence for all life
Our spiritual path is not separate from everyday life. How we treat ourselves, our families, our communities, the land, animals, and one another is part of our spiritual practice.
Our Way of Practice
Axis Mundi expresses its faith through practices that bring people into direct relationship with the sacred.
These may include:
• Prayer and meditation
• Sacred song and music
• Fire circles
• Ceremonial gatherings
• Rites of passage
• Seasonal and ancestral observances
• Women's and men's circles
• Youth and family gatherings
• Nature-based education
• Agricultural and land-based practices
• Community service
• Creative expression and the arts
• Food, cooking, and shared meals
• Stewardship of the Earth
• Contemplative and educational retreats
We believe spiritual practice becomes meaningful when it is carried into daily life through action.
Land & Stewardship
We regard the Earth not simply as a resource, but as a living relationship worthy of care.
Working with the land, growing food, tending gardens, caring for animals, restoring ecosystems, building with natural materials, and learning the rhythms of the seasons can all become forms of prayer and spiritual education.
Our relationship with the Earth teaches responsibility, patience, reciprocity, and gratitude.
We seek to create places where people can slow down, learn, work together, reconnect with nature, and remember their place within the larger web of life.
Community & Education
We believe spiritual growth is strengthened through community.
Axis Mundi creates opportunities for people to learn from one another, develop practical skills, share knowledge across generations, and support one another through the transitions of life.
Our educational work may include agriculture, ecological stewardship, traditional and ancestral knowledge, cooking and food systems, natural building, creative arts, meditation, personal development, leadership, and practical life skills.
We especially value programs that help young people and adults develop confidence, responsibility, meaningful work, leadership, and a deeper sense of belonging.
Rites of Passage & Life Transitions
Human life moves through seasons of birth, growth, initiation, relationship, parenthood, loss, renewal, aging, and death.
We believe these transitions deserve acknowledgment.
Through ceremony, reflection, community, and meaningful ritual, Axis Mundi provides space to honor the passages of life and help individuals move through them with awareness and dignity.
Our Commitment to Service
Spirituality is expressed through service.
We seek to contribute to the well-being of our community by creating opportunities for education, mentorship, stewardship, creative expression, personal development, and meaningful participation.
We believe a healthy spiritual community should not only gather together, but should also contribute something of value to the world around it.
Our Core Creed
We believe:
The Earth is sacred.
All life is worthy of respect.
Every human being carries inherent dignity and divine potential.
We are part of nature, not separate from it.
Love is the foundation of spiritual life.
Relationship creates responsibility.
Knowledge carries a responsibility to be lived.
Service is an expression of devotion.
Community is essential to human flourishing.
The generations before us and those yet to come are part of our responsibility.
Our Tradition
Axis Mundi is a contemporary spiritual community informed by wisdom found across many ancestral, contemplative, and mystical traditions.
Our founders' spiritual paths have been shaped by Indigenous and land-based traditions of the Americas, Andean cosmology, Buddhist and Hindu philosophy, contemplative practices, and other traditions that emphasize direct experience of the sacred, reverence for nature, disciplined inner development, and service.
We do not claim to replace, represent, or speak on behalf of any particular Indigenous tradition. We honor the distinct peoples and lineages from which these teachings arise and seek to approach ancestral wisdom with humility and respect.
Axis Mundi is an evolving expression of a simple spiritual understanding:
We belong to the Earth.
We belong to one another.
And our lives carry a responsibility to care for what has been entrusted to us.
Our Founders
Axis Mundi Church was founded by Jessica Sanchez and David Solomon.
Their shared spiritual path is rooted in decades of contemplative practice, ceremonial work, community building, land stewardship, and service.
Jessica's work has centered on women's circles, rites of passage, seasonal ceremonies, ancestral remembrance, and the cultivation of sacred relationship with the Earth. Her life has also been devoted to caring for land and creating spaces where people can gather, learn, heal, and reconnect.
David's spiritual practice has included more than three decades of Kriya Yoga meditation, years of ceremonial and contemplative practice within diverse traditions, and a longstanding commitment to community gathering, land stewardship, agriculture, meditation, and spiritual development.
Together, they envision Axis Mundi as a living community where spirituality is not merely something practiced in ceremony, but something expressed through how we live, work, learn, create, and care for the world.
The Axis Mundi
The name Axis Mundi refers to the sacred center—the meeting place between Earth and Heaven, the visible and invisible, the human and the divine.
It represents the understanding that each person can become a point of relationship between these worlds.
Our work is to cultivate that center within ourselves and within our community:
Rooted in Earth.
Open to Spirit.
Connected to all life.
Committed to right relationship.
